New year

As the sun sets on today, I thought about this:
What does this year have in store for me?

Well, for a start, there's a few personal things I want to change:
I want to care less about other people's opinions of me.
I want to be able to be myself.
I want to be happy with who I am.
I want to tell the truth, no matter how much it hurts me or others.
I want to enjoy my life - live every day as my last.
I want to love... and be loved.
I want to know... and be known.

Basically, I want to be happy.

And to be honest, if that means losing my friends or whatever, then so be it. I'd rather be happy with no friends than to pretend to be happy with a load of fake friends.

Let it be known that if I communicate with you in the slightest in 2009, it's because I want to. Not because, as is the case now, I feel obligated.

Just thought I'd let you know.

What is at the center of the world?

As the sun sets on today, think about this:
What is at the center of the world?

First we have to define "the world". Is the world the whole of the planet? I know mine isn't. My world is what is directly concerned with me. I don't give a shit what's happening in China or Australia. All I care about is me, and what goes on in MY life. Because really, other than actually flying to China and giving a wee boy water, there's not a lot you can do about all that shit. So why care about it? Oh, "twenty thousand people died last night after a dinosaur erupted from a volcano" - so fucking what? I don't know any of those twenty thousand people, so it's no loss to me.

What is at the center of the world?

To put it simply: We're on this earth for no reason. It just happened. We could die any day now. So why worry about stuff? Just have fun! Enjoy yourself, do what you want to do, and FUCK anyone who tries to stop you. Don't let anyone put you down - what's the point of spending precious time on feeling down? It's not worth it, so stop it.

As the sun sets on today, think about this:
What is at the center of the world?

It should be you!

Who are you?

As the sun sets on today, think about this:
Who are you?

This is perhaps the most important and life changing question you'll ever be asked. It's tough to find an answer. It might take days or even weeks to truly discover who you are. What makes you? And I don't mean go all scientific. I mean, mentally, what makes you? Maybe you think of yourself as the quiet, reserved type. I bet you're wrong.

Seriously ponder this question:
Who are you?

It could be that the answer is not what you wanted to hear. You might find out you're nothing like who you thought you were. But once you know, you'll see everything more clearly. This is just the start. Pretty soon you'll be thinking about everything.

But for now, concentrate on this question:
Who are you?

Go to bed half an hour earlier than normal. Lie there, in darkness and comfort, either in silence or with soft music playing, and just think. Don't force yourself to think about anything, just let the sequence play out naturally. It might start with thinking about what one person said to you that day, or last week. But it's a start.

Pretty soon, you'll be asking yourself:
Who am I?

That's when things get interesting. It's only by truly knowing ourselves that we can know other people. Knowing yourself opens up your brain, it let's you see so much more. Right now your mind is clouded by thoughts about yourself. "Is this the job I want?" "What should I be doing with my life?" "Is he/she the right man/woman for me?" How will you know any of this, if you don't know yourself?

As the sun sets on today, think about this:
Who are you?
